Typhoon “Tisoy” scuttled the windsurfing competition of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, forcing officials to postpone the event to December 5 or to a date when the inclement weather would not affect the competition.
“It will be moved to a date when weather will be clear of the typhoon,” said SEA Games Subic Cluster Chairman Ramon Agregado on Sunday.
The typhoon is expected to make landfall in Bicol region either on Monday or Tuesday.
The windsurfing tournament was originally scheduled from November 28 to December 9 at the Lighthouse Jetty Area and Subic Bay Yacht Club, respectively.
The schedule includes practices, weighing and measuring of equipment, and competition proper.
Depending on the effects of typhoon Tisoy, the two events may have to be postponed to December 5.
“We are anticipating December 5 as the start of the official competition,” said venue manager Julious Macam.
