Visitors to Pismo Beach may have noticed Santa and his elves catching a few waves Wednesday morning.
AmpSurf held its Surfing Santa Competition and Costume Contest just off Addie Street.
It kicked off a day of Christmas festivities in Pismo Beach.
Wednesday evening Santa Claus visited with people in the lobby of the Pismo Beach Hotel before hitting the streets and visiting some of the stores participating in the holiday decorating contest.
There’s also a Surfboard Decorating Competition taking place throughout the city right now. The decorated surfboards are displayed in various store windows and the public can vote on their favorite. On Monday, Dec. 23, from 4-6 p.m., the boards will be displayed on the Pismo Beach Pier and the final votes will be tallied.
Also on December 23, final judging will take place for the businesses participating in the Classic Christmas Tree decorating competition.
A Social Christmas Tree will be set up in the Mechanics parking lot on Price St. where people are encouraged to take selfies and post on social with the hashtags #classiccaliforniachristmas or #pismobeachxmas.
