The Lake of the Ozarks’ boating magazine, Shore, has returned for 2020. The newest issue of the annual, locally published magazine is already making its way to select racks around the Lake area, with full-scale distribution to begin at the Overland Park and St. Charles boat shows in January and March.
Shore Magazine is a large, annual, table-top style publication that celebrates the Lake of the Ozarks boating lifestyle. Shore takes the best of the Lake—the old and the new, lake legends, boat reviews, fishing tales, personal stories, boating guides, and plentiful photography—and pours it into 196 beautifully laid-out pages.

Now, we at LakeExpo.com are admittedly biased: Shore is a collaborative project between Nauticus Media Inc. (LakeExpo’s parent company) and Showcase Publishing, which publishes Second Home Living, Lake Relo, and the Official Shootout Guide at Lake of the Ozarks, along with KC Options magazine in Kansas City and Cabo Living magazine in Los Cabos.
Shore’s charter issue in 2019 met with high praise from readers and Lake area businesses, who enjoyed the high quantity of content as well as the beautiful ad layouts: every page makes you feel closer to the Lake. In 2020, Shore turned the pens and lens to watersports: particularly, the rise of wake sports. From a dive into the history of watersports, to an interview with a champion trick-kneeboarder who got his start at Lake of the Ozarks ski shows, to tips from local wakeboard coach Kirby Liesmann on how to get started wakeboarding, the 2020 issue may not be a comprehensive look at Lake of the Ozarks watersports (can there be such at thing), but it’s surely as close as anyone’s gotten.

Beyond the watersports focus, Shore’s 2020 issue features a new article about fishing the Lake 12 months a year, by award-winning outdoors writer Brent Frazee; an interview with a world-traveling rock band named after a famous Lake of the Ozarks landmark; and an exploration of one of the Lake’s most enduring legends.
Distribution in the winter and spring are primarily at Missouri boat shows: the Kansas City Sport & Boat & Sport Show (Jan. 9-12), the Overland Park Boat Show (Jan. 23-26), the St. Charles Boat Show (March 5-8), and the Spring In-Water Boat Show (April 17-19). The magazine can be found at select racks throughout the Lake area from now through May, and then broader distribution at additional lakefront restaurants & marinas will begin during Spring Harbor Hop, for the boating season.
The magazine is free at racks around the Lake, but it’s known to fly off the racks, so to guarantee you get a copy, find Shore at one of the boat shows (LakeExpo and Showcase Publishing’s booths), or order your copy.
You can also view the full magazine online, for free, at ShoreBoatingMag.com. Read and share articles from Shore’s current and previous issues at ShoreBoatingMag.com, too: just create a free account to read.
It’s not too late to give Shore 2020 as a gift to the boater in your life — the magazine may arrive after Christmas, but it’s worth the wait!
