The tall ship Pride of Baltimore passes by the harbor channel entrance on Wednesday. Six more vessels will join the Pride of Baltimore here as Kenosha’s Tall Ships Festival runs today through Sunday. For more information, go to kenoshatallships.com.
The Pride of Baltimore II is the first of the Tall Ships to arrive in Kenosha.
Also docking in Kenosha for the Tall Ships festival will be the Barque Picton Castle, Bluenose II, S/V Denis Sullivan, U.S. Brig Niagara, Appledore IV, and Kenosha’s own Red Witch.
The opening ceremony begins tomorrow with a Parade of Sail at 3:45 p.m. at Simmons Island, as ships travel a figure-eight pattern from Pennoyer Park to Kemper Center before funneling into the downtown channel.
The festival grounds officially open with early-bird admission 9 a.m. Friday and continue throughout the weekend.
The three-day event could draw upward of 30,000 people, according to the city community relations liaison Kris Kochman.
