MANILA—Several Southeast Asian Games events were indefinitely postponed Tuesday afternoon as typhoon Tisoy, the strongest to hit the country this year, barreled closer to tournament venues.
As of 1 p.m., the following sporting events were suspended, without definite resumption dates:
SUBIC CLUSTER
– Canoe / Kayak / Traditional Boat Rowing
– Muay
– Surfing
– Sepak Takraw
SOUTHERN LUZON CLUSTER
– Underwater Hockey
– Polo
– Skateboarding
CLARK CLUSTER
– Petanque
METRO MANILA CLUSTER
– Shooting (postponed benchrest event only)
Organizers have yet to finalize if wakeboarding, golf and other aquatic events in Clark would be adjusted, according to a document from the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC).
Other sports were rescheduled as follows:
SUBIC CLUSTER
– Beach Volleyball (moved to Dec. 4 to 6, subject to change depending on weather condition)
– Pencak Silat (revised schedule for Dec. 3, pending decision for events on Dec.4 to 6)
– Sailing/Windsurfing (moved to Dec. 4, subject to change depending on weather condition)
– Modern Pentathlon (moved to Dec. 5)
“It will still depend if typhoon signals are already lifted, but for now, we’re going for December 4,” said Raul Lazo of the windsurfing association.
According to Jerry Rollin, sailing competition manager: “We are planning to relaunch our boats on Wednesday morning and start racing in the afternoon.”
Sailing will be held at Subic Bay Yacht Club while windsurfing will take place at Lighthouse Jetty Area.
The following SEA Games events in venues unaffected by typhoon Tisoy will proceed based on their original schedules:

– Cycling
– Indoor Hockey
METRO MANILA CLUSTER
– Badminton
– Fencing
– Football
– Tennis
– Weightlifting
– Wushu
– Volleyball
CLARK CLUSTER
– Rugby 7s
– Archery
– Arnis
– Athletics
– Wrestling
– Baseball
– Softball
– Lawnbowls
SUBIC CLUSTER
– Table Tennis
– Chess
