For two quarters Friday night, the Wilmot and Central football teams slugged it out at Frank Bucci Field.

For 24 minutes of football, the Metro Classic Conference leading rusher looked like a mere mortal.

You could say that the 59th meeting between the Bradford and Tremper football teams was memorable.

WILMOT — The host Wilmot football team broke open a close game after halftime with 20 unanswered points to pull away for a 41-14 Southern Lakes Conference victory over county rival Central on Friday night at Frank Bucci Field.

RACINE — After regular drubbings in each of its last six meetings with Racine Horlick, including lopsided losses to end its season in 2015 and 2016, Indian Trail wasn’t about to flinch when it had the rare chance to get the upper hand against its Southeast Conference rival.

BURLINGTON — Just three yards of muddied Don Dalton Stadium turf separated the Wilmot football team from finishing off an epic drive and securing automatic postseason eligibility Friday night.

The opening drive Friday night couldn’t have worked out any better for the St. Joseph football team — and right until the final minutes of the first half, everything stayed according to plan.

BURLINGTON — Senior quarterback Zack Watson found senior receiver Joey Tanski just inside the back line of the end zone on a fourth-and-goal play from the 3-yard line with 17 seconds left, and sophomore Blake Weaver drilled the ensuing extra point to lift the Wilmot football team to a thrill…

RACINE — On the heels of an emotional overtime loss five days earlier, these guys were laughing and leaping and hooting and hollering once again.

The St. Joseph football team went into halftime tied 7-7 with Shoreland Lutheran in a Metro Classic Conference game on Saturday afternoon in Somers.

The best decision made involving Friday night’s Southeast Conference football game between Tremper and Indian Trail at Jaskwhich Stadium wasn’t a creative fourth-down play call.
