CUMBRIA’S first ever aqua park is set to open in a few months.
Port Haverigg confirmed the news on its Facebook page which revealed the new attraction will be open by May.
The aqua park is set to include a series of inflatable slides and climbing frames moored out in the site’s 200-acre freshwater private lake.
In the Facebook post Port Haverigg Watersports said: “So three years ago we we’re super stoked to have opened Cumbria’s very first Wake Park.
“We have been bursting at the seams to announce to you all that 2020 is the year we are opening Cumbria’s first ever Aqua Park!
“We will keep you up to date on our progress in the coming months and we should be operating in May.
“We hope you’re all as excited for summer as we are here at PHW.”
Port Haverigg Watersports is home of Cumbria’s only WakePark.
The site has a wakestation/wakepark with Smart-Tensioning system and also runs boat waterskiing, wakeboard, kneeboard, wakeskating, ringo and banana rides.
Five years ago bosses at Wyldecrest Parks, which owns Port Haverigg, launched a £1.2m refurbishment programme.
The upgrade includes new tarmac roads throughout the entire site, new drives for all plots, new plot bases and a brand new play area.
The site has hosted The UK Wakeboarding Championships and is popular with water skiers from beginner to professional level.
Alfie Best, chairman of Wyldecrest Parks, said: “I’m completely delighted with this improvement programme.
“We are working to increase our holiday makers quality of life, but also moving forward, to offer even more people the chance of spending true quality time with friends and family at this stunning park which is full of potential.”
Mr Best, a father-of-two, was born into a Romany Gypsy family and now owns more than 40 luxury trailer parks across the UK with his business worth in excess of £200m.
