Competition Raises Funds for PMMC
A one-day skimboarding contest open to amateur and professional skimboarders starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Aliso Beach.
Contest entry fees will be donated to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center. Created by skimboarding world champion and local resident Sam Stinnett, the Sea Dog Skim Challenge awards ceremony will take place at a private home in South Laguna.
Join the event by signing up to compete, attending the ceremony, donating to PMMC or enjoying a day at the beach, says Stinnett in a statement.

Skimboarders Head for Balboa
Laguna Beach residents Blair Conklin and Sam Stinnett are both in contention for the title of United Skim Tour world champion, to be decided at the 12th annual Oktoberfest at Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, hosted by Exile Skimboards, Oct. 1-2.
The contest will take place on the South Side of Balboa Pier. Spectators are advised to arrive at 8 a.m.
Both amateurs and professionals are welcome and contest entries will be accepted until 5 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 30.
