Jackie Marie was bodyboarding at Treyarnon Bay with her partner and his children on Wednesday evening when the youngest boy got intro trouble.
The lifeguards had already gone home when he started to get dragged out.
Two men managed to swim out and bring him back to safety, and were beginning to struggle in the sea themselves.
Now Jackie is trying to track them down so she can personally thank them for their ‘completely unselfish act’.
“I would like to thank the stranger who, without hesitation, seeing that my partners little boy had got himself into difficulty yesterday evening, swam out and saved a potentially unthinkable situation from occurring.
“There was also another guy who got involved when it became obvious they were both beginning to struggle. I thanked him personally, although I didn’t take his name. I didn’t get to see or speak to the first guy and thank him for his completely unselfish act.
“We were bodyboarding at Treyarnon Bay after the lifeguards had gone home (yes, we were advised to leave the water and warned of the potential hazards if we chose to stay and play!) and I warned the children of this fact, instructing them to stay in the middle with everyone else also making the most of the evening.
“Three of us caught a wave in but the younger one did not. We were busy congratulating ourselves on our efforts when his brother looked up and said ‘he’s too far out!’
“In the time it took me to wade back in, he was already being taken out of his depth and was obviously struggling too close to the rocks.
“A man near me, seeing the panic on my face, spotted him and immediately made his way to him before he was either smashed on the rocks or taken out to sea.
“This particular incident had a happy ending, albeit we are all very, very shocked thinking what could have happened.
“I’d like to say how grateful we are to the two strangers who unselfishly reacted and to warn others how quickly a fun situation can change in the water, and that it perhaps is best to listen to the lifeguards and leave the water when instructed!”
