Sharon Wernecke wrote in to tell us about the displays at 1212 52nd Ave.

• , one block off of County E Highway near the University of Wisconsin-Parkside campus. “You will find two homes really in the holiday spirit,” she said. “One is my daughter and her husbands home. The other is a couple on the corner of E and 52nd Avenue.”

“Every year they put up a huge display and really enjoy celebrating Jesus birth. I would absolutely love it if their display made it into the News. It truly is a celebration of Jesus birth,” adding that her grandchildren “are in Christmas concerts and programs.”

The display includes “a large blow mold display of the total Nativity scene, plus a shivering snowman, many lights and more.”

Gail Burgess of Bristol tells us, “There aren’t a lot of decorations in our yard, but there is one big one. It is a huge Christmas tree designed by my husband — and it can be seen from a few blocks away. We live on a cul-de-sac at the end of 203rd Avenue south of highway K (60th Street), and you can see the tree as soon as you crest the hill north of 63rd Street.” Her address is 6510 203rd Ave.

Henry Spates lights up the street around his home at 6409 103rd Ave.

• He calls the annual decorating project “so rewarding, especially when we see the kids faces light up. That makes it all worth while.”

Kurt Petersen also enjoys working on his outdoor lighting display each Christmas season at 7945 46th Ave.

• “The work and dedication that goes into this display is unbelievable,” Taran Scheppa tells us. “Day in and day, Kurt Petersen is outside working on his piece of art. He takes great pride in decorating his yard. Every year he has a different display, every year he spends endless hours getting everything up and running.”

This year’s display features more than 23,000 lights, including 10 homemade trees of lights, with the tallest one standing at 25 feet tall and featuring 3,800 lights.

We also heard from several Kenosha News readers who are thrilled to see a giant lighted evergreen on top of the Spot Drive-In at 75th Street and 22nd Avenue.

• New owners Robert and Peter Lee, who purchased the iconic drive-in this past summer from the DuBois family who founded the Spot in 1945, have brought back the Christmas tradition of that towering tree.
