There’s nothing better than booking some time off, taking a break from your day job, and jetting off somewhere to have a good time. Taking a vacation, either on your own or with the family, is a great way to de-stress and let loose. The change of scenery and difference in routine can really help someone reset and make them feel refreshed. The good thing about vacations is that you can spend a few years saving up for something really expensive or jump in the car and take a road trip, it just depends on what you fancy doing. Here we take a look at 7 fun vacation ideas for this summer.
Camping
Let’s start with the age-old classic. Camping is something enjoyed by the entire family with the potential of having an unforgettable holiday. Not only is it fun, but it also teaches your kids valuable life skills and lessons. Being able to pitch a tent quickly will be a skill they will forever be grateful for. Campfires in the evenings, roasting marshmallows and making smores, a few beers for the adults and a BBQ that will feed you for weeks, is there any better way of spending an evening? There are plenty of campsites you can choose from, many of which will have areas for fires and some may even have an electrical hook up if you’re in need. Camping is an unforgettable holiday when done right.
Take To The Road In Your RV
Somewhat different to camping, the recreational vehicle allows you to road trip properly without anything holding you back. When you take to the road in your truck there isn’t anywhere to sleep and can end up becoming reasonably uncomfortable over long periods of time, but when in the camper things are different. It’s much more convenient for long distances, especially if you’re sharing the driving, there’s plenty of space in the back to stretch out or have a sleep if you need, and don’t forget that your kitchen is right behind you should you get hungry.
The question isn’t where shall I go, more, how many places can we go? There are so many beautiful spots to take the RV and settle for a night or two before moving on that choosing them can be quite difficult. Take a look at this helpful guide for ideas on where you can cruise to this summer. To begin with, you might struggle to come up with a route or know where you want to go, which is why looking at other experiences can help spur you on to discover your own dream.
Get To Europe
A continent with a huge number of cultures to immerse yourself in, Europe offers much more in a relatively small space compared to other places around the world. If you want to see more than just a singular country, then you can go Interrailing which is where you buy one train ticket that allows you all over for a set price. Head to Germany and drink some incredible beer, followed by some cheese and wine in France, and finished with a cultured tour of Ancient Rome in Italy. The good thing about Europe is that it’s so easy to make your way around and you’re never really too far from another country. Imagine the stories upon return, it’s no big deal that you traveled to 10 countries in 2 weeks, right?
Mountain Climbing
If adrenaline is your thing, then look no further than mountain climbing. Not only is the journey to and from a mountain a lot of fun, but when you’re climbing you get a feeling like no other. There’s something freeing about being at one with nature and 2000 meters above sea level, definitely something that should be experienced by everyone before they die. Reaching the top is more than satisfying and coupled with incredible views, you’ll never want to come down.
City Break
Whilst cities can be overwhelming, they tend to be pretty spectacular places to explore. During the day they are a place of work and routine, with beautiful green spaces and tourist havens to visit. At night they turn into a bustling metropolis of nocturnal party animals which is a lot of fun if you find the right places. There are plenty of guides online to both day and night time activities so when you’ve chosen your city destination, make sure to see all the amazing things they have on offer over the period you’re there.
The Beach
Who can have a list of vacation ideas and not put there on the beach? Go surfing, kiteboarding, windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, or if you want to sit and read a book, that’s ok too. The beach is known to be a relaxing place enjoyed by everyone and the best thing about them, is they’re free.
If we come out of COVID-19 strong, then there will be many people heading out on vacation this summer. If there was a time for you to do something you really wanted to do then this is it, take a risk and take to the road. You never know what’s out there until you get going.
